Ah, the news I’ve been waiting for was announced yesterday:

Rock Band moshes over to Wii on June 22nd.

I’ve previously written about how much I’ve liked playing Rock Band, but I’ve only been able to play occasionally at Patrick’s house. A month or so ago, I bought Guitar Hero 3, but I haven’t enjoyed that anywhere near as much as Rock Band.

I need to temper my expectations, though. Some things will be lacking in the Wii version, such as character creation, Mii support and downloadable content. That’s disappointing. I also read that Guitar Hero 3 guitars will NOT work with Rock Band. Bummer…that’s one of the big reasons I decided to go on and get GH3.

Regardless of the negatives, I’m still looking forward to rocking out.

I played Guitar Hero for the first time last weekend. Wow, that’s good stuff! I’ve watched some friends play it a few times before, but didn’t think I’d like it. Wrong! Now I know what all the buzz is about. Too bad there’s only one version for the Wii – Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. I’ll just have to make frequent visit to my friends’ places to get my fix for the time being.

From the few songs that I’ve played, in easy mode, I prefer the bass and rhythm guitar parts over lead guitar. My favorite song so far is Beast and the Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold, especially around the 1:33 mark through 1:58 or so. (Wow, expert mode looks tough!) Unfortunately, this song is on Guitar Hero 2, which is not on the Wii, but I’m sure GH3 has other fun songs.

Another friend of mine has Rock Band. Looking forward to trying that soon. I’ve always wanted to be in a band – this could be my big break…or not.

Did you all hear the tens of thousands of people yelling and cheering and applauding today? Starcraft 2 is coming! Starcraft is one of my favorite games, and is one of the all time best-selling and most-loved games video games out there. Fans have been itching for a sequel for YEARS – and now Blizzard has officially announced it! I can’t wait! No release date yet, unfortunately, but at least it’s on it’s way! w00t! *drools* Yeah, I’m a little excited. Ah, buddy, it looks goooood! I get goosebumps watching the videos. *deep breath*

Fear the Protoss!

Very interesting, and very fun looking video game – Lego Star Wars – The Video Game! Watch the preview of the game and you’ll see what I mean. There’s a demo of the game available, but I haven’t played it yet. The idea is definitely something different from the already flooded Star Wars video game market. Hope it plays as fun as it looks in the video.

Lori and I played some old school Nintendo tonight – Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3. Wow, the memories those bring back. I was really surprised on how many of the secrets and such that we remembered. It’s like learning to ride a bike, I guess

I haven’t played the newer ones (Mario 64 or Sunshine), but I know they sure don’t make games like they used to. Nothing like the classics…

Nintendo, if you’re out there and listening to the people, make us a Super Mario Brothers Collector’s Edition, like you did with Zelda, for the Game Cube. I have this craving to play all the original Super Mario Bros games, but all I have is a Game Cube.

I think I’ll break out the ol’ SNES and play some Super Mario World. It’s just not the same as the originals, though. Nothing like the classics…
