Today, I cut the cord. I canceled my MySpace account. It wasn’t a very strong cord – I’ve rarely logged on lately – but given how I like to feel connected and in touch, and how I jump on any internet bandwagon as soon as it comes into view, this was a pretty big move for me. But I hated MySpace, really. Bad design, clunky interface, the site was often down, spam, hijacked accounts…need I go on? After yet another comment spam from a friend’s hijacked account, I got fed up. Besides, Facebook is so much better, in my opinion, and has taken the place of MySpace over the last few months in terms of my usage. Most people that were on MySpace are also on Facebook, and there are many others that are on Facebook that aren’t on MySpace. It’s a lot easier to find and add friends on Facebook and there are many options to communicate and keep up with them, directly and indirectly. There is a lot to do on Facebook…not so much on MySpace. Need I go on?
So, if you wanna look me up on a social networking site, you won’t find me on MySpace anymore. Good riddance!
On a separate note…my brain hurts. My second grad school class – Management Behaviors and Skills – started this week. Three and a half hours on a Monday. Yuck. Stats class for two and a half hours on another night. I’m finding it’s really hard to do stay motivated to do homework and focus in class. So far, I’m doing fine as far as my grades, but I know I need to buckle down and and keep on top of things or it’s going to be that much worse when the holidays roll around. It seemed like a no-brainer to pursue an MBA several months ago, but now that I’m in school, I’m realizing how much time it’s taking out of my life. I like the idea of being in school and pursuing my MBA, but the time commitment is really hard to swallow right now. When I’m not at work, in class or doing homework, I just feel so tired and overwhelmed with everything. It’s especially a burden now that I’m getting more involved in church and that I’m really hoping to get involved in a creative ministries team soon. To what extent do I give up things that I really want to do in order to pursue my MBA? Maybe I need to cut other things out of my life, or manage my time better. Just something I’m thinking about…
“Happy Little Brains” gets debuted tomorrow.
I’ve barely worked on it since I decided that was going to be my costume, so I’m going to spend a chunk of the day tomorrow working on it…I hope it turns out like I envision it…
This weekend, my brother David and I met with some of his friends from Lexington and went camping at the Red River Gorge. We couldn’t have asked for better weather! It was a perfect fall weekend!
Even though we got to the gorge late, started at the wrong trail head, found most of the camping spots already taken and had to pitch our tents in the dark, it was a great trip and much needed getaway!
Pictures from the trip are up in the gallery and posted on Facebook.
(It appears there are some problems with the new album in the gallery, so here’s a direct link to the album on Picasa.) The album is fixed now.
We camped off the Auxier Ridge trail then hiked out to Courthouse Rock the following morning. After the hike, we headed down to Miguel’s Pizza for lunch before heading back to Lexington to watch the UK football game. Boo for losing to Florida, but at least it was a pretty good game.
Here’s to perfect fall weekends!
Cool interp to Lifehouse’s song Everything…heart strings really get tugged at the 4:30 mark…gives me goose bumps…

I was shopping at Meijer last night…Christmas decorations and such were all ready out. Not just one row, but practically the entire seasonal section of the store was Christmas stuff. Trees, ornaments, wreaths…
Gimme a break! Can’t we at least get through Halloween?!?
I read an article a couple weeks ago that said stores were kicking off the holiday season earlier this year than ever before because they weren’t expecting to meet goals during the traditional shopping season that starts after Thanksgiving. However, the article said that the stores weren’t going to advertise or promote these as “holiday” sales just yet. Well, at least there’s some restraint… :-/
Give it two or three more years, and we really will be shopping for Christmas in July.
Geesh…
Wow! Woohoo! We won! Instant classic! How’s this for a Blue Grass Miracle!
#17 Kentucky upset #1 LSU 43-37 in triple overtime Saturday.
Read more on ESPN. I gotta go jump around and shout “we won” some more.

Friday night was Big Blue Madness, the first practice for the UK basketball team for the 2007-2008 season – and the start of the Gillispie Era. It seems so long ago that Gillispie was named head coach, but at the same time, it feels like it was just yesterday. The first exhibition game is in a few weeks – Oct 31 against Pikeville college.
This year, UK not only has a new coach, but a very young team – only 2 seniors and 1 junior – and we’re missing an inside presence. Let’s hope the freshman Patrick Patterson can step up and Perry Stevenson can hold their own while our guards run circles around the rest.
I’m not sure what to expect from this team yet, so I’ll try to avoid setting any expectations until a few games are under their belt.

Yay for college basketball season!
