New Batmobile

Batmobile

Jalopnik.com reports on the New Batmobile Designed for Batman Begins

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Chris Nolan, director of the latest installment in the Batman movie series, the prequel “Batman Begins,” spent more than a year working on the new Batmobile with the movie’s production designer. That makes sense, since this one is the most complex, plot-wise.

As the story goes, Bruce Wayne pieces together this combat-ready ride from military equipment laying around his murdered parents’ farm, thus its slapdash “Road Warrior” like comportment. According to Rolling Stone, which ran a feature spread on the car in its latest issue, three Batmobiles were built for the movie. Each one is outfitted with a jet engine, along with a 350ci, 500hp Chevrolet V8, and sports four 44-inch Superswamper tires in the rear (and two smaller ones in the front). The cost for all this customized madness? That’ll be $1.7 million. Each.

Yuck, I don’t like the new design at all. Your thoughts?

Daylight Saving Time Ends

Remember to turn your clocks BACK an hour before going to bed tonight. Daylight Savings Time officially ends at 2am Sunday morning. Yay for an extra hour of sleep! Boo for it being darker earlier…

New Addition

CatAs I mentioned previously, I’ve been thinking about getting a cat. Well, I took the plunge today! Say hello to…er…my cat. I haven’t thought of a name yet, so if you have some ideas, pass ‘em along. Lori and I were thinking about Einstein (think Back to the Future), but I’m not sure yet. He’s about 8 months old and seems pretty intelligent so far. Not sure of the breed, but I think I heard he’s part Siamese at least. Special thanks to Jeff, and Jennifer, for the cat!

Now This is What I Call Ambidextrous!

From Daily Times:

Man writes with both hands in two languages

An Indian man has become famous for his ability to write with both hands simultaneously in two separate languages. Amanullah can write different sentences in English and Tamil with both hands simultaneously.

The engineer from the southern city of Coimbatore is now mastering his writing skills in five other language combinations including Urdu and Arabic. He said: “Since my childhood I have been a left hander, but at school my friends poked fun at me for writing with my left hand so I made attempts to write with my right hand. Later by working hard I started to practice writing with both hands simultaneously in two languages.” The 53 year-old, who has got his name into India’s Limca Book of Records, is hoping to get a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Halloween Party at SwinGallery

Swing DancingTonight was the annual Halloween party at the place where I go swing dancing, SwinGallery. I had an awesome time! The place was packed, with about 70-80 people showing up, with many new faces and many interesting costumes. For the lesson, they taught the Thriller dance, which was tons of fun to learn. They also had a contest for best costume, and I was one of the finalists! Check out some pics from the evening in the Gallery.

New Brand for Kentucky

Thanks to ChickenScratch for bringing this to my attention.

Governor Fletcher writes on kentucky.gov:

“We are in the process of creating a new brand for our great commonwealth. After months of hard work, research and tough decisions, we have narrowed a long list of possible brands down to four finalists.

From now through November 21, we will be accepting votes for your favorite from among the four. You can vote once a week, and the brand receiving the fewest votes each week will be eliminated. We’ll announce Kentucky’s official brand on November 24.”

You can vote at www.kentucky.gov/brand.

Below are the four options:

The 12-Step Program for Web Addicts

I’m sure many of us can relate to this (Can’t remember where I saw this, so I can’t give credit.)

The 12-Step Program for Web Addicts

1) I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my newspaper, like I used to do before the Web.
2) I will eat with a knife and fork, not with one hand typing.
3) I will get dressed before noon.
4) I will make an attempt to clean the house and wash clothes.
5) I will write letters to those unfortunate few friends who are Web-deprived.
6) I will call someone on the phone whom I cannot contact via the Web.
7) I will read a book… if I still remember how.
8) I will listen to those around me, and stop telling them to pipe down so I can hear the music on the Web.
9) I will not use TV commercials to check for email.
10) I will get out of the house at least once a week, whether it is necessary or not.
11) I will balance my checkbook, because the bank does not accept my “I was too busy on the Web” excuse.
12) Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed sometime… the Web will always be there tomorrow!
