General Comments

It seems that there is a need for a place to post general comments, such as “hellos” and thoughts about the website. Oftentimes, someone will post such a general comment on a random post. So, I got to thinking…let’s provide a place for these general comments. This post is an announcement for this feature; the actual general comment link will appear on the left side of the website, above the “Most Recent Comments” link, and will always be available even when this post moves to the archives. I would like to keep the general comments as uncluttered as possible, but welcome anything that is said. Enjoy!

Uh… Like… Try the “Contact” tab/page for his email. Like… How more obvious can it be? Heh… You must be a blonde!? Just kidding…

  2. Chris January 21, 2005 at 17:19 #

Uh…Like…Bryan, the contact page wasn’t up when she came to the site. It was, like, totally not there, dude. Like, that was before I had the new design, like, completely done, and, like, the contact page wasn’t up at that point. Like, duh! Maybe you’re the blonde.

  3. Bryan January 23, 2005 at 14:10 #

Say bestest cousin in the whole wide world!;-)… Would you do me a big favor and put this in a visalbe (can’t spell) place on here!?

  4. Chris January 23, 2005 at 18:11 #

Sorry, Bryan, but I can’t put that particular logo on my page. I have a link to you site on my links page, so that should be enough.

  5. Jeremy February 2, 2005 at 22:52 #

Hey Chris, just a suggestion but can you change the color of the links on your website. They blend in with the other text so much that it is almost impossible to distinguish between regular text and a link.

  6. Chris February 2, 2005 at 23:03 #

Link text should be blue (#0000A0), while the regular text is a dark gray. Don’t know how that would make it hard to distinguish. Is it not showing up that way for you?

Hmm, looks fine from the computer at work. Maybe it was my monitor, or the lighting. Who knows. I do have a suggestion about your Amazon products page. Write up a little summary or description of the product. Especially what you think about it. When I was looking into doing it on my website, I read somewhere that this increased someones sales and click-throughs a lot. Just an idea.

  8. Chris February 6, 2005 at 14:14 #

If you’re using Firefox, links within posts will have a little arrow icon next to them, so that should help some. It doesn’t show in IE, though, for whatever reason…

Yeah, I’ve got some more work to do on the Amazon page, such as linking back to the post or comment where the product was mentioned. I wanted to get something up for now, though. Thanks for the suggestion.

  9. Bryan February 6, 2005 at 16:07 #

Hmmm… From the things stated of Chris and Jeff’s blogs, it seems that WordPress doesn’t favor Internet explorer very much…. ;-)

  10. Chris February 6, 2005 at 16:43 #

Bryan, WordPress is software. I can have any design that I want in WordPress, and it’s the design and stylesheets that affect IE and other browsers. WordPress doesn’t have anything to do with it, really. It’s just database and blogging stuff. If I wanted to, I could make the link icons show in IE, but that’s too much trouble, since IE doesn’t really play by the rules and standards.

  11. Bryan February 8, 2005 at 19:19 #

Duh, I so knew that Chris! :-)

  12. Bryan February 12, 2005 at 13:28 #

http://www.chrisvaught.com/wordpress/amazon.php#a_games RRRRIIIIIGGGHHHTTTT Chris…… Like anyone here is really gonna buy a sandcrawler through you. ;-)

  13. Jeremy February 17, 2005 at 03:07 #

Hey, you can’t blame a guy for trying. It’s not like it’s hurting anyone by putting it up, and if someone did buy it by clicking through Chris’ site it would be a nice little bit of pocket change!

  14. Bryan February 17, 2005 at 19:20 #

Say, Chris, your comments aren’t working for me. I’ve refreshed and restarted my browser and computer. However, whenever i click on a comment the box pops up with this message, and many similar to it:

Warning: main(../../../wp-blog-header.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/www/users/cbassjr/chrisvaught.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/GreenTrack/comments-popup.php on line 4

  15. Bryan February 17, 2005 at 19:25 #

You listen to Norah Jones!? That’s awesome!? I didn’t think you were that cool!? ;-) Welcome to the dark side Chris!? i.e.: Mainstream, non-christian, female (artist) music. Get what I’m saying!? I’m so proud I could cry. If you like Norah Jones than you’ll looove Coldplay. Finally… You’re starting to lean to my preferance in music… As I’m starting to lean towards yours… :-)

  16. Lori W. February 21, 2005 at 15:08 #

I can’t believe you are playing Nora Jones-Come away with me. This is one of my absoulute favorite songs. Yeah! I love the song so much I can almost guarentee it will be played at my future wedding. I know it sounds crazy, but this song makes me melt.

  17. Lori W. February 23, 2005 at 19:57 #

I love the new pics of Smokey-absolutely adorable, I miss him already.

  18. david February 26, 2005 at 10:01 #

Good choice with Norah Jones. I use that cd to study to often and we might actually use it for the background music during the reception eating.

Hey, thanks for buying so many shares on my blog. Now that I finally got around to signing up, I can’t afford to be the majority stockholder on my on blog. :-p (I’m sure nobody else will even understand what I am talking about)

  20. Chris February 27, 2005 at 17:14 #

You start out with 1000 shares in your own blog, once you claim it. Be sure you claim it though… (Doesn’t look like you have yet) You should feel proud that your blog is worth so much now ;-) I actually don’t own any shares in your blog right now, though. Just keep buying and selling other, cheap blogs (less than $1 per share) and you’ll be rolling in the cash in no time and then you’ll be able to buy all the shares in your blog, if you want. Check the Help pages under Basic Share Trading for good tips. I’m worth over $2 million right now. If only it worked that way in real life!

  21. Jeremy February 27, 2005 at 17:58 #

I claimed my blog, but it hasn’t gone through yet. Not sure when it will. I’ll have to do that to make some quick cash!!

  22. Robin February 28, 2005 at 21:04 #

Do I dear ask what craziness you guys are up to now? How do you find so much free time to find such things? Okay Chris, I do know how you do now but that doesnt answer all the times before you left your job.

  23. david March 6, 2005 at 22:07 #

Hate to point this out, but unfortunately your score for today’s game is wrong.

  24. Chris March 6, 2005 at 22:35 #

Oops, thanks for pointing that out. Wishful thinking…

  25. Carissa March 15, 2005 at 17:57 #

  26. david March 16, 2005 at 23:42 #

What if I wanted to order somethign from amazon that isn’t linked on your website? Is there anyway to get a cut then? Just askign because I was thinking of ordering something from them that way.

  27. Chris March 17, 2005 at 07:07 #

If you want to order something from Amazon that’s not on my Amazon page, let me know and I’ll add it.

  28. Jeff March 17, 2005 at 15:55 #

Man, your new job is definitely keeping out of the blogging world.

  29. Connie April 7, 2005 at 02:05 #

I was checking on your website for places that David and Elizabeth are registered for the wedding and saw resume. So I checked it out, I did not know that you knew Unix/CC+ programming. You might want to send your resume to Kroger downtown, Human Resources. Mention my name with your cover letter. You are definitely qualifed to work there. They use unix and also linux which you know. If they hire you, I get some money after you work for so long. Give me a all sometime if you are interested. I am out on medical leave right now so home most of the time. Talk to you later, cousin!

I just saw Smokey in the little couch I got him-ahhhh…what a cute kitty. You are a lucky man Chris Vaught-even if he does get into trouble, who can beat a fun kitty like Smokey.

  33. Chris May 8, 2005 at 23:10 #

Oh, I’m not denying it…he’s the best kitty in the world!

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: “I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded….”

First Book Of Nephi, Chapter 3, Verse 7

I’m gonna try to follow by that… I think we should all search for what God wants us to accomplish in our life, eh?

  35. Bryan June 2, 2005 at 00:09 #

gosh chris, stop changing your domain name every five minutes! lol…. its hard to keep up!…

  36. Bryan June 2, 2005 at 13:46 #

You are visitor 00001 since February 13, 1998.
Last updated on December 2, 1998 by Chris Vaught.

    hmmmm…..

  37. Chris June 2, 2005 at 17:49 #

I’m not changing my domain name Bryan. They all go to the same place, so the “old” ones work just as well as the new ones.

“You are visitor 00001 since February 13, 1998.” Huh???

  38. Bryan June 3, 2005 at 00:18 #

  39. Chris June 3, 2005 at 18:02 #

Are you talking about Georgetown College’s BSU website? I was webmaster back in the day for that organization, but that website isn’t around anymore… That was 5+ years ago

  42. david June 10, 2005 at 18:07 #

I’m married. Thanks Chris for all the website stuff. Lots of people have told me they have checked it out. We’ll let you know when the wedding pictures are up incase any one wants to link to it through you to order some. But married life is quite good.

  43. David June 16, 2005 at 12:40 #

You should have a post or two about investments and the pros and cons between different ones. Is real estate the best investment or is there something better? We should all work on investments and since i’m trying to figure things out now, just thought it would be good to have up and see what other people think.

Well, it was working. You left on comment on the New Themes post earlier today. What are you doing differently? Did you change themes? Which one were you using when you got this error?

  46. Chuck May 21, 2008 at 16:15 #
